Introduction

MDE Toolkit ("the App") is developed by Chris LaPlante. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it.

Data Collection

MDE Toolkit does not collect any personal data. The App is designed to run entirely on your local device and does not transmit any information to external servers, including:

• No telemetry or usage analytics
• No crash reports sent externally
• No personal information collected
• No tracking cookies or identifiers
• No account registration required

Local Data Access

To provide its functionality, the App accesses the following local system information:

• Microsoft Defender Status: Real-time protection state, engine versions, and signature information
• Windows Event Logs: Security and Defender-related event logs for display purposes
• Firewall Configuration: Windows Firewall rules and log files
• Device Control Policies: Local device control policy configurations
• WDAC Policies: Windows Defender Application Control policy files
• System Information: Computer name, IP address, and OS version for display in the UI

All of this information remains on your device and is only used to display security status within the App.

Remote Connections

The App includes optional functionality to connect to remote machines via WinRM (Windows Remote Management). When using this feature:

• Connections are initiated only by you, the user
• All communication occurs directly between your device and the target machine
• No data passes through any third-party servers
• Remote connection credentials are not stored by the App

Data Storage

The App may store the following data locally on your device:

• Application Settings: Your preferences and UI configurations
• Cached Data: Temporary cache of security information for performance

This data is stored in your local AppData folder and is not accessible to external parties.

Third-Party Services

MDE Toolkit does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

If you download the App from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft's standard Store policies apply to the download and installation process. Please refer to Microsoft's Privacy Statement for information about the Microsoft Store.

Children's Privacy

The App is a system administration tool intended for IT professionals and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
